DIY - Cute Gourd/Pumpkin Planters
These smaller "pumpkins” are actually called gourds, which aren’t pumpkins at all.
They are a bit harder to cut open, but they firm up and don’t rot as easy as your average pumpkin would .
What you will need:
+ A few gourds
+ A knife, to cut the top (Mom, dad or any adult do this part)
+ A spoon, to scoop the insides out (Kiddos, this is all you!)
+ Soil
+ Plants of choice. (We chose succulents and an aloe plant)
+ Moss
+ A few kiddos willing to get dirty ;)
**Plan on doing this project 2-3 days AFTER you cut the tops off your gourds and remove the insides. They will need a few days to dry out before adding your soil & plants.
When your gourds are a dried out on the inside you can start the assembly process.
Adding a bit of soil to the base and some moss around the top to complete the look.
This is a super easy and fun craft for the kiddos.
If you like, you can have the kids paint their gourds before adding the plants for some extra color.
These make great gifts, party/ dinner favors or can be used as simple table decorations.
Have fun & get creative.
